Founded in 1926 just north of Austin, Concordia University Texas began on a 20-acre site that once felt far from the city. As Austin expanded, the University moved to support long-term growth while staying rooted in academic excellence and its Lutheran mission.
In 2007, after reviewing 30+ locations, Concordia Texas purchased Schlumberger’s former campus, the 437-acre Austin Hill Country Reserve, and opened the new campus in 2008. The site includes renovated facilities, new student housing, athletic upgrades, and a standout 250-acre nature preserve with wetlands, caves, and protected habitat for the Golden-cheeked Warbler and Black-capped Vireo.
Since the move, Concordia has added and expanded academic and community-serving spaces, including Martens Hall, Cedel Hall, the Zielke Academic Support Center, Gardner-Boggs Baseball Field, and the Birkmann Entrance.
Approaching its second century, Concordia University Texas continues to prepare students for meaningful work through critical thinking, compassionate action, and courageous leadership.
