All About the Day 1 CPT

When Meghan Trainor’s "All About the Bass" got popular, she probably never thought this phrase would be used to describe a post for something called Day 1 CPT. For you to understand what is Day 1 CPT, we should talk about what is CPT first.

CPT, aka "Curricular Practical Training" allows international students to participate in paid internships and receive employment training. Students have the option of working while they are still on an F1 visa. Some Universities have a preferable CPT policy that allows their students to start internships as soon as enroll. Such programs are referred to as “Day 1 CPT programs”. Day 1 CPT is not an official term but is widely used among international students. To a large extent, it empowered international students and paved a much easier path for them to start their American lives.
