NCWU Quick Guide

North Carolina Wesleyan University CPT Policies

With three semesters per year, NCWU offers 3 enrollment windows, ensuring there is no gap between CPT authorizations for students seeking continuous work experience after their OPT ends.

CPT Policies
  • CPT Application: To apply for CPT, the employer's signature is required on the CPT Agreement, which must be submitted before the CPT application deadline.

    • For each semester, a signature from the employer on the evaluation form is necessary to renew CPT.

    • If the current employer does not sign the CPT Agreement, an Employment Verification Letter can be used as an alternative (consult your advisor for this).

    • The university recommends applying for CPT two weeks before the semester begins.

  • Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is essential for students. Failure to do so may result in the termination of your CPT.

Class Format & On-Site Requirement

North Carolina Wesleyan University offers a hybrid course model that includes:

  • one online course
  • one on-site course (one weekend per semester)
  • one internship

For F-1 students, attending the onsite course is mandatory, and failure to do so could result in the termination of F-1 student status.

NOTE: North Carolina Wesleyan University has one of the lowest RFE rates among all Day 1 CPT universities. It is highly recommended for international students who plan to stay in the U.S. for the long run.
