New England College adheres to USCIS regulations to authorize CPT for international students.
At NEC, CPT is offered through academic, for-credit internships that require a formal agreement between the employer, the faculty sponsor, and the student. Together, these three parties create a structured learning experience at the work site, where students contribute their skills and effort while gaining practical knowledge in their field.
Internships may be paid or unpaid (most are unpaid) and can take place in private, nonprofit, or government organizations.
After enrollment is confirmed, students must submit an NEC Employment Agreement Form and a job offer letter for CPT eligibility review. Once CPT is approved, NEC issues an updated I-20, and students may begin working on the start date listed on the new I-20. CPT authorization must be renewed every term.
