University of the Cumberlands: Cheapest Day 1 CPT programs in the US

University Overview

Although officially established in 2005, the history of University of the Cumberlands (UC) can be traced back to the 19th century. In 1888, Williamsburg Institute was founded in Kentucky, which was the predecessor of the University of Cumberlands. In 1913, with the acquisition of Highland College, Cumberland College was born. In 2005, it was renamed University of the Cumberlands.

With a campus in the center of Appalachia, University of the Cumberlands provides undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major subject areas, as well as a number of pre-professional, graduate, and doctorate programs.

These days, UC is known as one of the biggest and most reasonably priced private institutions in the U.S. that offers day 1 CPT options, with a total enrollment of more than 19,000 students.

Accreditation

Ottawa University has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1914. Its Business School program is nationally accredited by the ACBSP, and the Nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The university is also approved by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCACE) and the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE).

Ottawa’s Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) is a popular day 1 CPT program among international students. Ottawa also has campuses in Arizona, Kansas and Wisconsin, convenient for those who work in central states and on the West Coast.

F1 students are required to take 2 courses per semester to maintain their full-time student status. 1 of them is online, and the other one is on-site.
Online course takes place every week, usually scheduled on a weekday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

CPT is a required component of the EMBA program.
CPT is usually issued from the 1st day of class and can be used 365 throughout a year without a gap.
The University has very strict requirements for on-site attendance. Unexcused absences may fail to complete the course properly and affect student status in the United States.
Ottawa University has a great reputation. USCIS generally does not question the legitimacy of implementing a CPT in its program when reviewing its students’ H1b applications.

Onsite courses usually last for 3 consecutive days and are sually at the beginning and end of the course.
Students can take weekend onsite classes at three locations: Kansas City, Phoenix, or Milwaukee.
Onsite Frequency
- DBA: 2 per semester (every 8 week.)
- Master's: 1 per semester

Campbellsville University, in accordance with USCIS regulations, grants CPT work authorization to students. Typically, international students need to be enrolled for over a year before they can apply for CPT.

Due to program requirements, students in the MSITM and PMBA programs can apply for CPT authorization starting from their first semester and engage in either full-time or part-time work. The MSCS, MSCC, and MSDSAI programs allow students who have already obtained a Master's degree in the US to apply for CPT authorization from their first semester for either full-time or part-time work.

Students in these five programs can continuously apply for CPT during their studies without interruption. To utilize CPT, students need to enroll in the BA500 Graduate Management Externship Course (0 credits) every semester. CPT authorization needs to be renewed annually.

Day 1 CPT at Campbellsville University

Day 1 CPT Class Requirement

Campbellsville University's graduate program is divided into three semesters in a year: Fall, Spring, and Summer. Each semester is further divided into two terms. Students in the Day-1 CPT program register for 6 credits each semester, which includes one 3-credit hybrid course and one 3-credit online course.

The hybrid course lasts for 16 weeks (2 terms) and has an in-person session over one weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Students who fail to attend will lose their F1 student status.

After Enrollment - CPT Application

After receiving the acceptance letter, confirm the SEVIS transfer time with your advisor and fill out the SEVIS transfer form to transfer SEVIS from your original school to University of Cumberlands.

Students can submit their CPT application at any time after receiving their admission. Application materials include:

Paid admission deposit (non-refundable).
The student has completed registration.
The student's SEVIS record has been released to Ottawa University.
