In the MBA program at Lamar University, students eligible for CPT can participate in a hybrid academic format that combines graduate business coursework with practical, career-related learning. The program is designed to help students strengthen their management, leadership, teamwork, ethical decision-making, and problem-solving skills in real-world business settings.
For students with an undergraduate business background, the Lamar University MBA program typically requires 30 credits and can be completed in approximately 16 months. Students without prior business coursework may be required to complete additional leveling courses, bringing the program up to 36 semester hours. Leveling courses may be waived depending on the student’s previous academic background.
Lamar University’s CPT policy is designed for students who are eligible to gain practical work experience directly related to their academic program.
For CPT application, students are required to submit a CPT support letter from the academic department, a CPT application, and an employment offer letter. An employer agreement form is also required, although an employment offer letter may be accepted as an alternative in some cases. Students typically enroll in a 3-credit CPT course each quarter with no additional CPT fee.
