Ottawa University offers EMBA program which supports Day 1 CPT. It allows you to start your work on the first day of class.

Ottawa University has more than 150 years of history. It has grown from a single building in 1865 into a comprehensive educational institution that serves more than 4,000 students through its two residential campuses in Ottawa, Kansas, and Surprise, Arizona as well as adult and graduate studies campuses in Kansas City, Milwaukee, Phoenix, and online.

Accreditation

Ottawa University has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1914. Its Business School program is nationally accredited by the ACBSP, and the Nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The university is also approved by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Kansas State Department of Education.

Ottawa’s Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) is a popular day 1 CPT program among international students. Ottawa also has campuses in Arizona, Kansas and Wisconsin, convenient for those who work in central states and on the West Coast.

What are some day 1 CPT policies for Ottawa University?
  • This program follows a hybrid format, combining online and offline learning. Each semester, students must complete two courses. One course is entirely online, with a weekly class from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The other course is held on campus, with a three-day offline class at the start and end of the program (Friday through Sunday).
What is Ottawa University's accreditation?
  • The business school in Ottawa has received the ACBSP national award, while their Nursing Program has passed the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The school is also approved by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Kansas State Department of Education.
What is the cost of the EMBA program?
  • The school's EMBA program with Day-1 CPT is only $4,990 per semester ($5,615 per semester for the Cybersecurity option).

Day 1 CPT at Ottawa University

Day 1 CPT Policy
  • CPT is a required component of the EMBA program.
  • CPT is usually issued from the 1st day of class and can be used 365 throughout a year without a gap.
  • The University has very strict requirements for on-site attendance. Unexcused absences may fail to complete the course properly and affect student status in the United States.
  • Ottawa University has a great reputation. USCIS generally does not question the legitimacy of implementing a CPT in its program when reviewing its students’ H1b applications.
Teaching Format

Hybrid :

  • F1 students are required to take 2 courses per semester to maintain their full-time student status. 1 of them is online, and the other one is on-site.
  • Online course takes place every week, usually scheduled on a weekday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
  • Onsite courses usually last for 3 consecutive days.
  • Students can take weekend onsite classes at three locations: Kansas City, Phoenix, or Milwaukee.
On-Site Frequency
  • 3 consecutive days, from Friday through Sunday.
  • Twice per semester.
  • Usually at the beginning and end of the course.

Day 1 CPT Program @ Ottawa University

Day 1 CPT Program - EMBA (STEM)

Ottawa University only has one day 1 CPT program—EMBA. The full name of EMBA is “Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)”. It is a STEM program designed to provide a business immersion experience that will prepare you for the high-level role you’ve been seeking in the global marketplace.

EMBA has four concentrations to choose from and has both national and regional accreditation.

Many other central or western CPT schools require monthly or even weekly attendance at the school's on-site classes. In comparison, Ottawa University's day1 CPT programs offer significant savings in commuting time and transportation costs to and from the university.

In order to graduate with a concentration, students must take six (6) courses, totaling 18 credit hours in the area of their chosen concentration:

Day 1 CPT Program - DBA (STEM)

If you're interested in doctoral-level Day 1 CPT program or “Day 1 CPT universities offer Ph.D. level courses”, Ottawa University's DBA program may be of interest to you. This program offers a combination of empirical exploration and evidence-based decision-making that can help you develop successful data-driven strategies and solutions for your organization. By attending six two-day on-campus residencies each year, you can continue working while pursuing your degree. As a graduate of the DBA program, you'll be prepared to lead in the field of strategic evidence-based management, which is essential for executives and scholar-practitioners in today's business world.

Courses and Curriculum

The core curriculum of OU's DBA features current business and economic research. It emphasizes knowledge-based competitive strategy, communication skills, organizational development, and direct application to your current and future career goals. Coursework includes:

With working professionals in mind, the 56 credit-hour doctoral degree program can be primarily online. Like all of the graduate programs offered by OU, the DBA is fast-tracked with flexible eight-week terms - six terms per year - allowing you to take courses at your pace and with the ability to take more than one course per term.

Program Format and Pricing

The DBA is designed to be completed with consecutive enrollment throughout the 3-year program, which consists of 9 semesters. Courses are offered every 8-weeks with 6 terms per year.

Semesters are considered fall, spring and summer.

Day 1 CPT Program - MS Nursing

The innovative online MSN program at Ottawa is tailored to help you achieve both personal and professional objectives, while potentially boosting your earning capacity. Tuition & Scholarship

  • $5,190 per semester for a master’s degree (*$5,615 per semester for those who choose the Cybersecurity track)
  • $5,525 per semester for DBA program
Tuition is paid on a semester-by-semester basis and is due by the start of each semester.

Ottawa University has 6 admission windows per year: The beginning of February; the beginning of March; the beginning of May; the end of June; the end of August; and, mid-October.

Step by Step Self Application Guide

Step 1: Register on Ottawa’s Application Portal

» Enter your name, email address, school, campus, and program of interest.

» Enter “Goelite, Inc.” in the Agent field to waive the $75 application fee.

» Submit

* Goelite is day1cpt.org’s parent company and the designated admission agent for many day 1 CPT universities. Using this code can help you waive their application fee.

Step 2: Upload Documents

After receiving an email from the admissions officer, follow the email prompts to upload the following application documents:

  • Personal Information Collection Form
  • Personal Statement of Purpose (students working or studying in the U.S. can waive this)
  • Transcripts Official Transcript
  • Three Recommendation Letters
  • Language scores (students who are working or earning a degree in the U.S. can waive this)
  • I-20 (the latest version)
  • I-94 (click here to download, select Get Most Recent I-94)
  • Passport
  • Visa Photo
  • Resume
  • Bank Statement (bank statement with a balance of more than $28, 400 or equivalent in other currency within the last three months)

* After receiving the acceptance letter, confirm with your advisor the SEVIS transfer time and fill out the SEVIS transfer form to transfer SEVIS from your original school to Ottawa University.
