At UC, each academic year consists of 3 semesters: Fall, Spring and Summer.

Students enrolled in day 1 CPT programs are required to take 3 courses/semester.

2 of them are regular courses, and the third one includes requirement for internship, which also known as the CPT course. CPT courses allow students to do internship that closely related to their field of study.

One three-day offline course is required per semester (usually on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Students who fail to participate will lose their F1 student status.

Students must attend all on-site courses. Throughout the program, students has 1 chance to makeup for a missing on-site section. Missing the second offline course will result in expulsion of the student.

If students missed a course, they will be asked to attend makeup classes and pay a $300 fee. Additionally, students may be required to provide documentation to explain why they missed the scheduled on-site section. Makeup classes must be completed before the end of the semester. Fail to comply with this policy will result in losing of F1 status.

• Step 1 : Obtain a job/internship offer. It has to be closely related to your field of study (formal Offer Letter required).
• Step 2: Complete a CPT application form or CPT renewal form.
• Step 3: Submits CPT application materials (signed Offer Letter from employer within 6 months, job description, Employer CPT Authorization Form, signed CPT partnership agreement) to the school's DSO.
• Step 4: DSO approve student’s CPT application and issue a new CPT I-20 to the student.
• Step 5: You can begin working on the date of your CPT I-20 comes effective
