New Day 1 CPT DBA Program at Ottawa University

As a Day 1 CPT program, DBA has become more and more popular these days to those who wish to continue their work in the U.S. after their OPT is over. Westcliff was one of the first ones to come up with this program. But today, you have one more choice for Day 1 CPT DBA——Ottawa University.

DBA, a doctoral-level business administration course, focuses on the practical application of business theory and research to a real-world situation. It is designed for professionals who want to advance their knowledge and skills in the field of business and management.

Unlike traditional PhD programs, DBA is a good choice for those who want to pursue careers in the private sector. It leads to positions like consulting, finance, and management. It is also a good degree for those who want to start their own businesses.

From a day 1 CPT perspective, DBA has pros and cons

Pros:

o   It is a longer program that gives you more opportunities to join the H1B lottery.

o   Just like MBA, fits JD to people from different industries and have different backgrounds.

o   It is one step up to a master’s degree, which means you can use OPT again after graduating.

Cons:

o   To generic. If you want to advance your knowledge to a very specific area, it might not be the best choice.

o   The workload is not necessarily heavier than a master’s program throughout the program. However, a long thesis might be required at the end of the program.

o   Relatively more expensive than a master’s day 1 CPT degree.

After Westcliff University in California, now you have another option if you are interested in a DBA. Ottawa University started to offer DBA now!
