CPT Policies at WUST
The phrase "Day 1 CPT Universities" lacks official recognition and generally denotes universities that permit students to seek Curricular Practical Training (CPT) from the start of their first semester. Nonetheless, securing CPT authorization on the first day of the program is not a certainty and hinges on the prompt submission and thoroughness of the application materials. Ordinarily, it takes 5 to 15 business days to obtain CPT approval once the documents have been received.
-
CPT Activation Timing: WUST allows students to activate their CPT work authorizations on the start date of each semester (with three semesters per year, totaling six enrollment windows). There is no gap between CPT authorizations.
-
CPT Application: To apply for CPT, the employer's signature is required on the CPT Agreement, which must be submitted before the CPT application deadline.
-
Students can apply for CPT at any time during the program.
-
Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is essential for students. Failure to do so may result in the termination of your CPT.
-
- Students are required to attend on-campus classes during the third, sixth, and ninth weeks of each semester, totaling three in-person sessions per semester.
- The remainder of the coursework can be completed online, providing flexibility and convenience for students balancing academics with professional commitments.
- WUST offers a Hybrid learning format, with graduate programs designed to be completed in 20 months. However, if students need a break, they may take a leave of absence after completing three semesters. During this leave, students can still utilize CPT, potentially extending the program's total duration beyond 20 months.
- WUST has 3 graduate-level programs that offer the CPT option, and 2 undergraduate-level programs.
- WUST adopts a hybrid teaching mode for all of its CPT programs. Students will have to take 12.5 credits per semester to maintain their F1 status. Onsite frequency varies depending on each program’s requirement from once per week to once per month.
- WUST is very strict when it comes to on-site attendance, which also helped it earn a great reputation among officers at USCIS. Its students were rarely questioned when applying for H1B though the history of using CPT sometimes could raise a flag.
The MBA curriculum at WUST is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive business environment. This program specifically prepares students for entry-level opportunities in small to medium-sized enterprises in a technology-driven and customer-focused business world. It emphasizes practical education, blending academic theory with real-world application.
The program content balances technical expertise, data-driven decision-making, and quantitative analytical skills, enabling students to make objective decisions. At the same time, it focuses on developing effective communication and interpersonal skills in multicultural environments. The concepts and theories learned throughout the program are applied in the Capstone project, which integrates academic growth with professional development.
To graduate, students are required to complete 54 credits, ensuring they are fully prepared to thrive in their careers while gaining both academic and practical insights.
The MBA program at Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) offers six concentrations for students to choose from:
- Leadership and Management

- Information Technology
- Health Care Management
