Day 1 Day 1 CPT at Sullivan University

Sullivan University provides CPT authorization to students according to USCIS regulations.

Students enrolled in EMBA, MSMIT, MBA&MSMIT dual degree, or MSM (experiential learning track) programs must take 4 Graduate Management Experiential Courses (MGT596, MGT597, MGT696, and MGT 697 for 1 credit hour each) to apply to classroom knowledge to real work. Therefore, students must apply for CPT on the first day of class.
Similarly, students enrolled in Ph.D. in Management (IT Management Concentration) program must take 4 Knowledge Management Practical Application Courses (CSC734, CSC735, CSC736, and CSC737 for 1 credit hour each) to apply classroom knowledge to real work. Therefore, students must apply for CPT on the first day of class.

Students must attend all the experiential on the first,  fifth, and eighth week after school starts. Otherwise, their CPT authorization will be voided.

Students participating in the CPT only need to enroll in the experiential for the first four quarters. After that, they can continue CPT without enrolling in the experiential and paying for the extra credit hours.

CPT Application

In the first four quarters, students must  enroll in the experiential. (This step is no longer needed starting from the fifth quarter.)

Submit DSO and CPT application materials (offer letter, CPT Cooperation Agreement with employer signature, etc.)

If the CPT application is approved, the student will receive a new I-20 and can start working according to the start time on the I-20.

The first CPT authorization will typically  become active within the first week of class. Students can apply for CPT in advance after the first quarter to avoid employment gaps.

Class Arrangement & On-Site Requirement

There are four quarters in each school year and a two-week break between each quarter.

F1 students can enroll in two courses (one onsite and one online course) in addition to the experiential (the first four quarters only).

The onsite course requires students to be onsite for the first, fifth, and eighth week of each quarter.

Experiential: 5:30pm to 8:30pm, Friday

Selected onsite course: 8:30 am to 5 pm, Saturday

The university will adjust the onsite class schedule if the onsite day is a holiday and students will be notified.

The online course does not have a fixed class schedule, and students can study at their own pace. They only need to complete the homework and tests before the deadline.

Students can choose to take a quarter-break after completing 3 quarters consecutively. However, they are not allowed to work under CPT during that quarter.
